EPL: Emmanuel Petit exposes Arsenal’s major weakness this season

Former Arsenal star, Emmanuel Petit, has exposed the club’s major weakness this season.

Petit said that Arsenal’s defense has been their biggest weakness for the past couple of years.

He added that Arsenal are “no longer an attractive club”, admitting that he is losing interest in his old club.

According to him, top players with profile do not want to sign for Arsenal.

Petit, who was a vital part of Arsene Wenger’s title winning side in 1997/98, stated this at the weekend as Arsenal lost 2-0 in their Premier League opener against Brentford.

“Little by little, I am losing interest in Arsenal, with this way of playing it does not generate any emotion to see their games”, Petit told French outlet RMC.

“They give me no emotions and I find that I don’t get the trajectory the team has taken in the last few years. It started in the last few years of Arsene Wenger’s management and it has continued with his successors.”

He added: “I don’t get it because it’s not about money, they have money but it’s more about the profiles.

“We will see the player’s profiles they have signed in this transfer window, but I see from yesterday’s game that Arsenal’s weaknesses are the same they have been for years, particularly on the defensive side, last night, [against Brentford] it was a fiasco.

“The worst these days is that Arsenal is no longer an attractive club. Who wants to go there?”

Arsenal have signed three players, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White, in the summer window so far.
