British Royal Scandal: Meghan Markle using 'megaphone' to leak Royal Family messages— Phillip Schofield Slams Duke and Duchess Of Sussex

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby welcomed Gyles Brandreth and Beverly Turner onto This Morning today to discuss the day’s headlines.

However, Phillip couldn’t help but vent his frustration at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for sharing an update to US chat show host Gayle King on the couple’s conversations with the Royal Family.

US breakfast show host Gayle revealed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had spoken to Prince Charles and Prince William but the conversations were “unproductive”.

On CBS, she said: “I’m not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling and it’s true Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too.

"The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive but they are glad that they have at least started a conversation.

“And I think what is still upsetting to them is that the palace keeps saying they want to work it out privately, but yet they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan still – no one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet.”

After the clip had played, Phillip slammed the couple’s decision to speak out yet again following their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“The thing is there’s been an enormous amount of sympathy over the race issue, the mental health issue,” Phillip said.

“But looking at the polls that are being done at the moment, that sympathy seems to be ebbing away quite quickly.

“There is this feeling that you’ve made your point, essentially shut up now and get on with your quiet American life.

“You stabbed a knife to the heart of the monarch of which there were some things they felt needed to be highlighted fair enough but stop now.”

Gyles replied: “Miss King is clearly Meghan’s new megaphone. Far from quietly solving problems behind the closed doors within the family, picking up the phone and talking privately.

“You can’t risk talking privately because Meghan wants to spread the world. This will go on and on and on until we are little old people even you Phil, even you Holly. You’ll be elderly folk and this drama will still be playing out before our eyes.”

Addressing Gayle’s comments, Phillip said: “Bev, there you go. Either that is the most indiscrete friend on the planet or she has been told by them that she can go on American TV and brief against the Royal Family and the British press once more.”

“I suspect it’s the latter Phil,” Beverly replied.

“Meghan Markle has a record of doing this of talking to friends.

“We saw in the interview one of her big drivers, ‘I want everyone to say nice things about me all the time.’

“That was her main complaint to the Royal Family when she talks about, ‘I want you to protect me.’

“It was partly chronically latterly about security but at the beginning of her relationships with the royals it was, ‘Protect me from people saying mean things about me in the press.’”
