Burna Boy Memorializes Nigerian Independence Day With Poignant 'Another Story' Video

Burna Boy has been on a tear with his elite storytelling through sharp visuals from his 2019 African Giant project. The Afrofusion artist dropped the "Another Story" video out of the sky on Monday (Sept. 30) ahead of Tuesday's Nigerian Independence Day.

Burna gets candid telling the solemn story of Nigeria breaking free from under British rule in 1960. Nigerian citizens are shown wearing black blindfolds that read the various issues that plagued the nation prior to gaining its independence like "greed," "corruption" and "fear." M.anifest also guests in the sobering Clarence Peters-directed clip.

A separate narrator takes over to leave viewers with a bold final message, which is the fact that Nigeria was acquired by Britain purely as a business transaction. "The British Government paid 865,000 pounds, a huge amount in 1900. So let’s establish a simple truth: The British didn’t travel halfway across the world just to spread democracy. Nigeria started off as a business deal for them between a company and a government," he states.
